Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $8,000 Community Investment Grant from the Char/Em United Way. The funds from this grant will go towards supporting mentoring relationships throughout Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.

In May, the Char/Em United Way Grant Committee reviewed grant applications from several non-profits in the area. BIGS was selected to receive funding in the United Way’s Funding Priority area of Education, which focuses on helping children and youth achieve their potential. BIGS will recruit mentors to work with children one-on-one throughout the year in both school and community settings. The goal is to serve 110 children over the course of the grant.

Anyone interested in being a Big Brother or Big Sister is encouraged to call BIGS at 231-313-7323, or visit us at our Petoskey office at 2350 Mitchell Park Drive.
